Announcement: Thomas Drysdale, PhD has been appointed as the Associate Dean, Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies
We are pleased to announce that Thomas Drysdale, PhD has been appointed as the Associate Dean, Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University effective July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2025.
Dr. Drysdale completed his PhD in Zoology at the University of Toronto in 1992. He was appointed as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Physiology at Schulich Medicine & Dentistry in 1997. From 2006 to 2009, Dr. Drysdale served as Director of the Collaborative Graduate Program in Developmental Biology. From 2016-2018, he served as the Chair of Graduate Studies Committee in Physiology and Pharmacology. During his career at Western, Dr. Drysdale has served on more than 100 graduate student committees and has supervised more than 20 graduate students. Additionally, he has contributed to the curriculum development of a number of graduate and undergraduate courses. He also holds appointments as a principal investigator at the Children’s Health Research Institute within the Lawson Health Research Institute.
Dr. Drysdale has consistently maintained impressive record of research funding including Children’s Health Research Institute Translational Research Grant, the National Sciences and Engineering Research Council Discovery Grant, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the National Sciences and Engineering Research Council, Research Tools and Instrumentation Grant.
He has been the recipient of various awards including Human Frontier Science Program Long Term Fellowship in 1995, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada Research Scholar in 2004, the Dean’s Award of Excellence in Education in Graduate Studies in 2011 and the University Student Council Honour Role in Teaching Certificate in 2017.
