Award: Parisa Shooshtari receives Ontario Institute for Cancer Research Investigator Award

Congratulations to Parisa Shooshtari, PhD, recipient of the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR) Investigator I Award.

The OICR Investigator Awards support world-class cancer research in Ontario. Recipients receive up to $350,000 per year for up to six years to provide stable research funding and salary support while establishing and building their labs in Ontario.

Shooshtari is an Assistant Professor in Computational Biology in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. She is also a scientist at the Children’s Health Research Institute, Lawson Health Research Institute and the OICR.

Her research program focuses on developing computational and statistical methods to understand cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying complex diseases.

Shooshtari was one of three new award winners, with the trio joining 25 past Investigator Award recipients as part of the OICR’s collaborative cancer research community.

Founded in 2006, the OICR is a not-for-profit research institute funded by the Government of Ontario that enables high-impact translational cancer research.
