Announcement: Dr. Toni Zhong, MD'02, named inaugural Belinda Stronach Chair in Breast Cancer Reconstructive Surgery

Congratulations to Dr. Toni Zhong, MD’02, for being named as the inaugural Belinda Stronach Chair in Breast Cancer Reconstructive Surgery at University Health Network (UHN).

Dr. Zhong is an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery and the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation (IHPME) at the University of Toronto. She is also a plastic surgeon in the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at UHN and serves as the Founder and Director of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) National Consortium on Breast Reconstruction Research.

On an international level, Dr. Zhong is on the executive committee for WomenforWomen Reconstructive Surgery, a non-profit humanitarian organization and has led several surgical humanitarian missions in Bangladesh.

The Belinda Stronach Chair position is an academic appointment and is awarded to an established or emerging leader in a particular field who holds the rank of professor or associate professor at the University of Toronto.

With support from endowed funds, the Chair enables the development of patient education programs and clinical research to improve outcomes for both women seeking reconstruction and breast cancer survivors.
