Jane Rylett appointed as one of CIHR College of Reviewers Chairs

Congratulations to Jane Rylett, PhD, on her appointment as one of 15 Chairs of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) inaugural College of Reviewers.

Dr. Alain Beaudet, President, CIHR, announced on June 10 that the newly appointed Chairs will oversee strategies aimed at attracting and retaining outstanding peer reviewers. They will also ensure that the necessary frameworks are in place to provide peer reviewers with the relevant learning, mentoring and support required to deliver fair and quality reviews.

"This is an important move by CIHR to establish a robust peer-review process for evaluation of research proposals following the recent reforms," Rylett said. "I am looking forward to working with an outstanding group of investigators from across Canada to ensure successful implementation and monitoring of these processes."

More than 100 candidates from across Canada applied for these positions. CIHR stated that, “the collective knowledge and leadership of these Chairs spans the entire breadth of CIHR’s research and knowledge translation mandate. Together, they also bring a wealth of peer review experience to the College.”

Each Chair will serve a renewable term of two, three or four years effective July 1, 2016. Read the official announcement from CIHR here.
