Dr. Glenn Bauman has been re-appointed as Chair/Chief, Department of Oncology

I am pleased to announce that Dr. Glenn Bauman has been re-appointed as Chair/Chief, Department of Oncology, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University effective from July 1, 2015 to Sept 30, 2020.

Dr. Bauman has been Chair/Chief of the Department since 2010. He is also a Radiation Oncologist at the London Regional Cancer Program specializing in Genitourinary and Central Nervous System Malignancies, and is a Professor in the Departments of Oncology, and Medical Biophysics, Schulich Medicine & Dentistry, Western University, and is an Associate Scientist at Lawson Health Research Institute.

Dr. Bauman’s primary areas of research interest are in modeling of effects of uncertainty on radiation treatment delivery and multi-modality image guided radiotherapy and cancer imaging. Dr. Bauman has given many presentations on brain tumours and prostate cancer worldwide to professional and public audiences. He has published many book chapters and manuscripts and is the editor of the CNS section of an internet based Radiation Oncology internet journal discussion website.

Other professional activities include participation as a reviewer for granting agencies and oncology journals. He is part of the leadership of the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research Smarter Imaging Program and leads a research group in the area of Prostate Cancer Imaging and Interventions. Dr. Bauman also leads the CIHR team in Image Guidance for Prostate Cancer funded by the Canadian Institute for Health Research. And he is the inaugural recipient of the President’s Award for Living Our Core Values – How We Work Together.

Dr. Bauman was born and raised in Elmira, Ontario, Canada. He received both his undergraduate and medical degrees from Western University, where he also completed his residency in Radiation Oncology. A clinical fellowship in Radiation Oncology in the area of adult and paediatric brain tumour treatment was completed at the University of California in San Francisco.
