See the Line

See the Line 2017

See the Line is a collaborative, 10-year initiative that seeks to educate athletes, coaches, parents and the broader community about the serious impact of concussions. In doing so it aims to shift the culture around concussion in sport, reduce the incidence of concussion and improve care through research.

Western University’s Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry proudly hosts See the Line’s core events on campus annually in August in partnership with faculties at Western including the Faculty of Health Sciences, and with the Fowler Kennedy Sports Medicine Clinic, London Health Sciences Foundation, and the Concussion Legacy Foundation.

Once again this year, we will be offering a full-day CME inclusive of the afternoon Community Symposium that will educate you on the latest in concussion research - hearing from world-class medical experts, health care advocates and professional athletes through the following series of events:

Continuing Medical Education

Date: Wednesday, August 16, 2017
Time:
8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Location:
Medical Sciences Building, Rm. 146

CME morning speakers include:
- Dr. Kristian Goulet
- Dr. Kathryn Schneider
- Dr. Keith Sequeira
- Penny Welch-West
- Dr. Laura Graham

Plus two separate case presentations that walk through the development of a treatment strategy and the direct and indirect consequences of a head injury. Case presentations will feature patients and their families and will be moderated by Dr. Lisa Fischer.

Who Attends? Physicians, health care professionals, medical and nursing students, residents

CME Session Options:
- Full-day CME: 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
- Morning CME only: 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
- Afternoon Symposium only: 1:00 - 4:30 p.m.
* Attend the complimentary Community Symposium and earn CME credits by registering for the afternoon Symposium through Continuing Professional Development (CPD). You must register through CPD to earn CME credits.

Registration: Registration is required. $125 for physicians and health care professionals. $25 for residents and all health professions students.

Plus an all-star panel discussion moderated by Hometown Hockey's Ron MacLean featuring See the Line's Honorary Chair and Hockey Hall of Famer Eric Lindros, Five-time Olympic Medalist Hayley Wickenheiser, San Jose Sharks (NHL) forward Logan Couture and Western Mustang Women's Hockey Assistant Coach Kalley Armstrong.

All In for Brain Research - Casino Night

The first annual “All In for Brain Research” casino night will be hosted by NHL star Logan Couture on Wednesday, August 16. All proceeds from this event will support important concussion awareness, research and rehabilitation programs run by the Fowler Kennedy Sports Medicine Clinic and Western University.
