Windsor Campus 10th Anniversary

The Schulich Medicine & Dentistry – Windsor Campus is celebrating 10 years of excellence in medical education in 2018.

After the Ontario Government identified a need for more medical school spaces in the early 2000s, an incredible amount of time and effort was put into developing a satellite campus in Windsor. The decision was greatly supported by Western University and the University of Windsor, and members of the Windsor community celebrated that there would be a higher concentration of medical professionals in their city.

In 2008, 24 students started their medical training in Windsor as the Campus’ first cohort. Since then, the Campus has grown to support 38 students in each year of the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program.

“As we look at being 10 years out and celebrating that, we’re looking at more than 200 students who have graduated from the Windsor Campus, and who received the entirety of their undergraduate medical training in Windsor,” said Dr. Michael J. Strong, Dean.  “Congratulations to everyone who has contributed to this, from people within the city and community of Windsor to all of those individuals who are teaching our students. This is something you should take immense pride in, as we certainly do.”

The School will celebrate this special milestone throughout 2018, with several events and activities. Please check back regularly for updates and opportunities to celebrate with us.
